Chancerygate Foundation annual round up

In the 2024–2025 academic year, we supported nine students: one graduated in July, two undertook work placements, and seven received £10,000 bursaries to support them throughout the year.

We’re delighted to share that Paris has graduated from Kingston University and has now joined Tyreece (Foundation alumni) at Taylor Wimpey. Tyreece has secured a permanent position there as a trainee quantity surveyor, and he was awarded the annual ‘Rising Star’ for his first year at the company. Seeing our students step into outstanding roles across the industry is a powerful reminder of why our work matters.

Ty completed his placement year with Bailey Garner, Shawn joined Rider Levett Bucknall, and Samuel secured a ten-week summer placement as an analyst with Savills.

New Students

We welcomed three new students this September: Davina, who is studying at Kingston University, and Lordking and Jacinda, who are both studying at the University of Westminster. All three are enrolled on Real Estate degrees.

RICS Tour

We had an insightful tour at RICS HQ earlier this year, which took us from the magnificent library with its collection of surveying texts dating back to 1654 to the stunning rooftop terrace overlooking Parliament Square and Westminster Abbey. We were pleased to see the students’ curiosity peak during discussions about the various pathways to becoming chartered surveyors.

We Rise In Leadership Summit

Students attended the We Rise In Leadership Summit, where they heard from a panel of esteemed guest speakers about their career journeys, and their thoughts on what makes a good leader. The students were able to network with professionals from various industries, giving them inspiration into life they can aspire to.

Frederick Afrifa, recently a contestant on The Apprentice, and award-winning presentation skills expert gave important advice on transforming the way we communicate to embrace and enjoy public speaking. He also promoted the benefits of having a mentor in life to go to for advice and support in a chosen career.

UK Black Business Week

In October, we had the privilege of attending the Black Property Talks event as part of UK Black Business Week.

The event brought together accomplished Black property entrepreneurs, industry professionals and investment specialists, who shared their proven strategies for building wealth through property.

It was inspiring to hear from so many brilliant speakers reflecting on their journeys and offering invaluable insights into the property sector. The knowledge shared was particularly beneficial for our students, who had the opportunity to learn directly from leading voices shaping the future of Black entrepreneurship and property investment.

Lockton Employability Workshop

In August, Lockton kindly welcomed us back to their head office for an engaging communication skills session, where students developed their teamwork and presentation skills.

We are expecting five graduations next year and wish them all the best in their final year of study.

We are seeking 2026 graduate placement opportunities for our students and would welcome any recommendations. If you know of companies offering schemes, please contact Amanda Walker at [email protected].

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout 2025. We are truly grateful for your support and look forward to working with you in the new year.
