A brilliant year for the Chancerygate Foundation

It has been an outstanding year for the Chancerygate Foundation. We’ve celebrated two graduations, welcomed three new students, provided summer work experience for four students, and secured year-in-industry placements for two others.

Graduation Success

We are incredibly proud of Tyreece and Kemi, our first students to graduate under the Chancerygate Foundation.

Tyreece earned a First Class Honours degree from London South Bank University in building surveying and has successfully secured a work placement at Taylor Wimpey. Kemi graduated with a 2:1 in building surveying from Kingston University and is now on JLL’s graduate scheme.

Kemi has also given back to others aspiring to enter the real estate industry by presenting to students in the Black Girls in Property programme through The Land Collective. Her presentation provided valuable insights into her journey, as well as the pros and cons of university versus apprenticeship routes into the industry.

Welcoming new students and mentors

In September, we were delighted to welcome three new students to the Chancerygate Foundation. Zainab and Devontae are studying at Kingston University, with Zainab focusing on real estate and Devontae on quantity surveying. Daniella is at University of Westminster studying real estate.

We introduced three new mentors to the foundation, Joëlle Allotey, associate at Cushman and Wakefield, Nioki Doggett, director at M&G Real Estate and Ony Nwimo, building surveyor at Quartz Project Services.

Their guidance and expertise have been invaluable in supporting our students.

Enriching experiences

This year, we organised a range of workshops and events to enhance the students’ skills and industry understanding, including:

  • Employability Workshop by Lockton: Charlotte Edwards, early careers lead, at Lockton’s provided insights into crafting a standout CV, highlighting essential skills, and tips for continuous improvement.
  • Placements Presentation by Savills: Hebe Ballard, graduate recruitment manager at Savills, shared strategies for succeeding in placement and graduate scheme applications, helping students navigate the competitive real estate industry.
  • We Rise In Leadership Summit: A powerful evening of discussions led by successful Black professionals, inspiring students to aim high in their careers.
  • Site visits: Students toured Chancerygate’s latest scheme at Metroplex Park, Tolworth. Chancerygate and Harmonix Construction teams guided the visit, answered questions, and included students to experience their first project meeting.

Looking ahead

Over the past 12 months, we have had the privilege of connecting with remarkable individuals and organisations working on incredible initiatives. As we look to 2025, we are excited to build on these relationships and collaborate with even more partners.
